Over the last two days I have been out at Linux world 2008.  Creative Commons has an org booth and things have been going very well.  The people dropping by the booth tend to fall into one of two categories, they know nothing about CC and we get to give the CC 101 pitch occasionally accompanied by a copyright 101 education or they are hardcore supporters of CC already.  In both cases people walk away in support of CC, generally the Linux community gets CC and open access to information.  This is an easy group to reach out to.  I miss doing public speaking, being a lawyer can mean a lot of time in the legal research caves, talking to real people helps balance my perspective on reality and on what the law should be accessible.

Other orgs present include Free Software Foundation and Electronic Frontier Foundation.  After day one of the conference I headed to an after party hosted by FSF, this was one of the better events I have been to in SF.  Richard M. Stallman spoke shortly, until pizza arrived and then we got to hear about some of their recent campaigns including End Software Patents.  FSF is a strong grassroots organization that listens to its members.
Here is my favorite photo thus far, one of the conference board readers is not working and look what it is running…
